FORT ATKINSON/JANESVILLE- Leona Scharine Clark, 91, formerly of 1801 E. Milwaukee St., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Fort Memorial Hospital.She was born in Richmond, WI, on Nov. 11, 1913, the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Kitzman) Scharine.She graduated from Whitewater City High School, class of 1931.Leona attended the former Janesville Business College, receiving her diploma as a legal secretary.She also graduated from Whitewater State Teachers' College, now the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.She taught school in Walworth County for 12 years, 4 years at Delaney School and 8 years at Ridge Prairie.She married James F. Scotty Clark on April 8, 1943, in Whitewater.He preceded her in death on May 22, 1995.When her husband was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945, they moved to Janesville in 1946.Leona was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and the Fellowship Club.She was also very active at the Janesville Senior Club, playing cards and dancing.She belonged to the Young Heart Club and was treasurer of the Johnstown Center Cemetery Auxiliary for 10 years.
