Lance Clark, Senior Vice President of Industry and International Affairs at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, has announced his resignation.
Clark, who has responsibility for all front-end, distribution and supply chain, retail member recruitment, and International initiatives at NACDS, intends to pursue opportunities in the private sector that could lead to greater responsibility in another organization or retail entity.
"Lance has demonstrated a high level of achievement and leadership during his tenure at NACDS," said Craig L. Fuller, NACDS President & CEO.

According to Fuller, Clark will continue with NACDS as a consultant, advising the association on the continuing development and launch of its new industry portal-- ChainDrugStore.net. --scheduled for first phase launch in early January 2001 and full implementation during the first half of 2001.

Clark started at NACDS in late 1997 after serving as VP Marketing for former K & B Drug Stores in New Orleans, LA, for eight years. Prior to his tenure at K&B, Clark held various senior level merchandising, marketing and store operations positions at Snyder Drug Stores, headquartered in Minnetonka, MN, and at Target Stores, headquartered in Minneapolis, MN.
During his three years at NACDS, Clark was responsible for guiding a number of initiatives for the Association, including membership development efforts which led to a 25% growth in retail membership and doubled the number of international companies. During this period, international membership in NACDS grew to 103 companies from 28 nations, along with increased NACDS participation with several non-US based pharmacy organizations.
He also spearheaded the association's drive to expand its Internet services through the NACDS Trade Gateway, including an EDI interchange initiative, as well as directing the strategic planning and prototype development of the ChainDrugStore.net" industry portal that was showcased in August.
Also during his tenure, front-end services of the association expanded to include a portfolio of new programs designed to provide members the opportunity to aggregate buying power and gain access to products/services at reduced rates. Additionally, Clark was integral in the development of several new NACDS conferences focused on the theme of Internet retailing and the supply chain, including the new Bricks to Clicks conference which ran concurrently with the Pharmacy Conference, attended by more than 2,500 retail and supplier representatives, in San Diego in August. -
