Clark said, in addition to saving money, the consolidation will allow government positions to be more efficient and enhance public services.
As of now, Yolo County has separate positions for the assessor, who determines the amount of taxes; treasurer-tax collector, who collects the taxes, and an auditor-controller, who distributes and spends the taxes.
Consolidation among elected offices has become a common trend in other counties, such as, Merced, San Benito, Mendocino, and Santa Barbara, according to Clark.
Both the auditor-controller and treasurer-tax collector have been notified and agree with the change, Clark said.
