Mr. James H. Clark
James Clark was born in Clevelend, Arkansas. He graduated from Conway High School in 1948. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Mathematics, and a Masters of Education Degree in Physical Education, from the University of Central Arkansas. He later received an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas.
James began his teaching career as a Mathematics teacher and coach at Hughes High School in Hughes, Arkansas, in 1952. He moved to Conway the following year and served in the Conway Public Schools from 1955-1965 as a teacher, coach, Assistant Principal, and Athletic Director. From 1965-1968, he served in the North Little Rock Public Schools as a teacher and coach. He returned to Conway in 1968 where he served as the Principal of Conway High School through 1986. In 1986, the Conway Board of Education named him the district's Superintendent, a poisition he held for five years.
Subsequently, James served as Principal of Nemo Vista Elementary in Center Ridge, Arkansas, from 1991-1993. He then served as an Evaluation Supervisor for the Arkansas School for the Blind from 1997-1998.
James has been married to Irene for forty-three years. They are the parents of Jimmy (Kelli) and Kenny (Leslea). James and Irene are also the grandparents of Jimmy and Kelli's two children, Dax and Cole.
