Clayton Clark
Clayton graduated form SAHS in 1957 where he played football for coach Andy Speed.He served as captain of the football team, played basketball, and ran track during his high school years.He served as a class officer and was president of the Student Council.Following graduation, he worked on the family farm and purchased it in 1967.He refereed booster football in the 1960s and 1970s.In 1980, he started Clark Livestock Sales and Auction Service.That business grew to be the largest commission sale in the state.He has served in many capacities in local government, as well as local and state organizations.Some of these include serving on the Town Budget and Finance Committee, Town Industrial Committee, Past-President of the Skowhegan State Fair, and 16 years on the board of directors of Good-Will Hinckley School.He is a member of the local, state, and national grange, having held several offices.In 1985, his family was honored as Maine Grange Farm Family.In 1991, he was chosen to the Skowhegan Fair Agriculture Hall of Fame.In 1995 he was elected to the board of directors of the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts where he is presently serving as president of the directors.Clayton has rarely missed an opportunity to travel to watch his sons and grandsons play football, basketball, rugby, or wrestling.He resides in Skowhegan with his wife, Joanne.
