Yorktown High School senior Abbey Chung received a Merit Scholarship award by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. She joined a group of 2,200 National Merit finalists who will receive scholarships financed by colleges and universities.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among finalists in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.

Chung will attend Oberlin College, near Cleveland, Ohio, and plans a career in writing.
