  Dorothy M. Chun received a Ph.D. in Germanic Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently Professor of German and Applied Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Barbara and since 2000 has been the editor of the online journal Language Learning and Technology. Her areas of research include several aspects of Second Language Acquisition: L2 phonology and intonation, L2 reading and vocabulary acquisition, cognitive process in L2 learning with multimedia, and technologies for the acquisition of language and culture.

Chun is Associate Professor of German and Director of the German Language Program at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she has been involved in both the development of multimedia and hypermedia materials for language learning as well as in research on learning with digital media.She has authored two CD-ROMs for the teaching of reading in German (CyberBuch) and Spanish (Ciberteca) and is currently working on a web-based project for second-year German, French and Russian (netLearn).She has published in The Modern Language Journal, Foreign Language Annals, System, and the online journal Language Learning and Technology (http://llt.msu.edu), which she now co-edits.
