The point that the President title would remain with Dr. Chun no matter what role he chooses was also presented to the Board of Presidents in advance of the Trustees final decision.
II. Basic elements of the reorganizationA. That the KS system operate as a System of individual units. : ( a ) 3 Campus Units each headed by a Headmaster. The original title for each of the units was that of President.Dr. Chun asked that this be changed to Headmaster. Each of the campuses would operate as independent units , making their own decisions on admissions ( but admissions would be processed centrally ) with their own religious , summer ( credit ) , campus.

A. Dr. Chun is given the option of continuing in his present role a President of the Kapalama Campus with full rights and responsibilities. In contrast to the other campuses to headed by a Headmaster , the title of President will remain with Dr. Chun as long as he remains in the position. The title of President would retire upon Dr. Chuns decision to retire or to step down from the position.Consistent with history , the Home on Kapalama would remain with the position of Headmaster and President ( Dr.Chun ) should he decide remain as head of the Kapalama program.
B.Dr. Chun is also invited to become the Kamehameha Schools first Chief Education Officer in charge of the total education system.Should he take the position , he is entitled to use the title of President. As is true for all Chiefs in the Executive Management Team , the position does not come with a home. However , in Dr. Chun's case , should he desire to take the CEDO positon , he would be given a housing allowance until such time he.retires or decides to step down from the position after taking it.Thereafter , the position would not have the housing allowance.
C. Consistent with the reorganization plan : The CEdO position and the Headmaster positions are designed to be independent of each other and thus an individual may not hold both positions , with one exception.Dr. Chun , should he decided to take the CEdO position would be asked to assume both positions for remainder of this academic year to facilitate the transition and to participate in the selection of a new Headmaster.
D. The transition of Admissions and Financial Aid would be initiated immediately in reporting to the CEO.
E. The CEO would inform those units most directly impacted by the reorganization as a priority. The priority was given to Admissions , The leaders of East Hawaii and Maui , Early Childhood Education , Regional Director , Extension and Summer Programs , Financial Aid , Program Evaluation and Planning and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer. All remaining units were scheduled through their respective leaders with a commitment to visit the East Hawaii and Maui Campus.

F. Given the misperception that Dr. Chun was losing his job and the intensive involvemen to NaPua leadership in this belief , the CEO and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees agreed to meet with Napua to minimize adverse effects created by the misperception which had already reached the public and the media.
IV. Questions and Answers :A. Did Dr. Chun lose his job.No but he was offered another position if he so chooses to take it.
B. Did Dr. Chun have input into the reogranization.Absolutely , throughout the entire period. He was allowed to present his own private views to the Trustees as well.
C. Was Napua involved in the reorganization process ; The President of NaPua was involved , absolutely , from the outset and throughout.
E. Were the Alumni associations through their presidents informed of the plans being made for reorganization and about Dr. Chun being given a choice while insuring him of his title of President.Yes , they were informed through their Presidents.
D. Why was not the entire NaPua organization informed.I take responsiblity for not being absolutely clear that members of the committee studying reorganization could include anyone they wanted. My assumption that leadership of the organizations involved in the reorganization planning would involve their constituencies was an overexpectation on my part ; I will be clearer in the future.
