Past president Wini Chuidian, who handled the coordination efforts with the school and the yearly crop of qualified applicants, stressed that "the Award is a stipend (or gratuity, present, donation or gift). It is a supplement or a living expense. The Award is not a scholarship, nor a substitute for the awardee's payment of tuition fees; the scholar's tuition is expected to be funded through his/her existing scholarship.Ultimately, the recipient determines how he or she spends the awarded funds."

Eligible scholars sent in their applications via e-mail or letters directly to the AdMUAAC, with an accompanying narrative on their financial situation and what they would do with the money.Scholars who received the awards used the money not only to help themselves through school, but also to help their respective families.
