Early on in the match U-32 coach Rob Chickering pointed out Raiders Matt Loignon and Kevin Bond (at that time down a set and seemingly outgunned by Harwood) and noted how new they were to the sport.
...
"Neither one of them ever played tennis before this season, and that was only two months ago, but even so they won two matches in the season," Chickering said.
In recent years, No. 3 seed U-32 has gotten the better of Harwood, but the Highlanders earned the No. 2 seed this year with a pair of victories over the Raiders in the regular season.
Still, the Raiders were able to pull it out in the end.
"We had five seniors graduate last year, so we have a lot of new kids and Greg has a deeper team," Chickering said.
