Big Vote for Big Arena - [Cached Version]
Published on: 6/5/2004    Last Visited: 1/6/2007

Says Debbie Chesterman, "Rosliston has fought off competition from other community projects in the East Midlands to be chosen as a competitor in the BIG Lottery's Peoples' Millions television programme, The centre will go head,to,head with another East Midlands community project with the winner walking off with ,50,000 of Lottery money,

If Rosliston Forestry Centre wins the competition the money would be used to provide seating and lighting in an arena at the centre, The arena is already in place as a circular earthbank backed by a curve of semi, mature trees, With seating and lighting, the arena could offer concerts and shows, touring theatre, youth art festivals, performing arts workshops and tai chi classes,"

The programme will be shown on Central News East even though most people in Swadlincote receive Central News West,

"We are trying to overcome this problem by encouraging people to vote for Rosliston even though they might not have seen the film on their Central News," explains Debbie, The telephone number to ring will be announced on 15 November when the lines will be open from 6 am until midnight, The number will also appear in The Daily Mirror on 15 November, We have groups of volunteers who will be getting out and about to tell people which number to ring, By spending 10p on a telephone call, people in South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and North West Leicester could have a wonderful new performance area,"
