    Colin Chesterman Colin was Foundation Director of the CVR for 16 years until 2008. He is Scientia Professor in the School of Medical Sciences and the Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW. His research focused on occlusive vascular disease including fibrinolysis, the characterisation & function of platelet granules, particularly PDGF, and aspects of the antiphospholid syndrome and vWF multimerisation. He is a Past-President of the Australian Vascular Biology Society, member of the Senior Advisory Council of the Scientific and Standardisation Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), and was President of the XXth Congress of the ISTH in Sydney in 2005.

    Colin Chesterman takes Ramaciotti Medal

    Professor Colin Chesterman has won the 2003 Ramaciotti medal for excellence in biomedical research.

    Professor Colin ChestermanProfessor Chesterman is director of haematology at the Prince of Wales Hospital and conjoint Professor of Pathology and Medicine at UNSW.He was honoured for his team's work in unravelling mechanisms underlying two of the intractable causes of intravascular thrombosis that are associated with disordered immunity.Their work has led to new diagnostic and treatment approaches in these conditions.

    Professor Chesterman formed the Centre for Thrombosis and Vascular Research, now the Centre for Vascular Research, in 1992.It rapidly became the country's leading group in vascular biology.

    Colin Chesterman

    Colin Chesterman is Director of Haematology in the Prince of Wales Hospital and South Eastern Area Laboratory Services in Sydney. He is Professor in the School of Medical Science and the Prince of Wales Clinical School, UNSW. He holds a Visiting Fellowship in the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University in Canberra.
