Toile's leap from home decor to clothing is part of fashion's rediscovery of prints, which have been out of style for "a long, long time," said Vivian Chesterley, academic director for fashion marketing and fashion design at the Art Institute of Seattle.
Toile "seems so fresh and new and it's just grabbed everyone's attention," she said."I've seen it on students.

The summer-weight styles have moved over to the sale rack, but Chesterley said you can carry toile fashions into fall by pairing them with corduroy, velour or suede.Despite the large, overall pattern, she said toile's monochromatic color scheme makes it easy to wear.
