In the election issue of the Motorcycle Council newsletter issued today, Dr Arthur Chesterfield-Evans was acknowledged "for continually using his position over the past eight years to hold government and the bureaucracy accountable on behalf of the motorcycling community, for brokering solutions and for long-continued support and assistance across a wide range of issues."

Dr Chesterfield-Evans said if he is re-elected to the NSW Upper House he will campaign for more dedicated motorcycle parking in the city CBD's and will launch an inquiry into motorcycle safety.

Dr Chesterfield-Evans, who was an occupational health professional before entering Parliament said today that assessment for personality disorder and mental health assessments should be added to the list.
" I am concerned about the apparent increase in paranoia, and obsessive-compulsive behaviour evident in NSW politicians.Luckily for some homophobia and xenophobia are not mental illnesses," he said.

"The state of Australia's public dental health is appalling, as was shown by the NSW Upper House Inquiry into Public Dental Health that I established."
"What is needed is to put dental care into Medicare, so that the mouth is not the only part of the body not covered by Medicare.If you get a boil on the b m you are covered by Medicare, but if you get a boil on the gum you are not," said Dr Chesterfield-Evans.
"However, Mr Rudd should go further.It is time that there was universal dental care for basic necessities, particularly including preventative care, and it would be wise to include dental therapists and dental hygienists also, as they are able to offer cost-effective dental care," Dr Chesterfield-Evans concluded.

If the State government won't budge from maintaining the Pensioner Booking Fee, then they should allocate the extra $2.5 million netted from alienating thousands of people on pensions to fixing the Casino - Murwillumbah Rail. $2.5 million would go a lot further on fixing a current rail line than building a new one from scratch!"Dr Chesterfield-Evans concluded.
