    Richard Chenevix-Trench graduated from Imperial College, London with a BSc in Biochemistry in 1981.He began his career at Warburg Securities as research analyst for the Asian region.In 1986 he joined Baring Asset Management in Hong Kong as director of their Asia Pacific division with responsibility for Asian equities.In 1991 he returned to London to establish Baring's Emerging Markets investment division, where he was responsible for direct investment of institutional and mutual funds.He joined Sloane Robinson in January 1996, where he is the Chief Investment Officer and a Partner.He is responsible for managing the Sloane Robinson Asian and Emerging Markets Funds.

    Sloane Robinson's absolute return focused approach means the manager may increase cash and/or use derivatives to substantially reduce the portfolio's equity exposure whenever he is uncomfortable with the overall level of market risk.

    Richard began his career at Warburg Securities as a research analyst for the Asian region. In 1991 he moved to London to establish the emerging markets investment division.

    Richard Chenevix-Trench joined Sloane Robinson in January 1996.He spent the previous nine years with Baring Asset Management, the first five years of which was spent building up the Asia Pacific investment division in Hong Kong.In 1991 he returned to London to establish and direct the Emerging Markets investment activities of BAM taking responsibility for both investment process and business development.During these periods he had direct investment responsibility for various mutual funds including Baring Hong Kong Fund, Baring Octopus fund, The Asia Pacific Fund and most recently the World Value Fund.Prior to working at Barings he was a research analyst at Warburg Securities in Hong Kong.At Sloane Robinson, he is Chief Investment Officer and responsible for managing the Asian Fund portfolio and the Emerging Fund portfolio.
