   DR. STEVE CHEN is board certified in the areas of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Hematology. He contributes over 20 years experience in medical research and numerous publications in the field to his credit.
   
   Dr. Chen comes to Clarient having been the Director of Hematopathology and Flow Cytometry at US Labs since December 2002. Most recently, he served as Interim Medical Director at the same institution. He received a medical degree from Taipei Medical College, Taipei, Taiwan and completed his residency training in pathology at Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Chen received a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pathology from Temple University before moving to neighboring Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he served as the Associate Director of the Molecular Diagnostic Division and Assistant Professor of Pathology. He completed a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland, where he also served as Assistant Professor in the Pathology Department. In 2000 he served as a fellow in Immunohistochemistry in the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chen joined Quest Diagnostics at Nichols Institute in 2001 as a staff pathologist. His research interests include normal and abnormal cell proliferation. His expertise is in molecular biology and immunohistochemical applications in hematopathology.

   Steve Chen, M.D., Ph.D., Director of Hematopathology Dr. Chen recently joined US LABS as our new Director of Hematopathology, and is Board-Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology. Prior to joining US Labs, Dr. Chen was employed at Quest Diagnostics/Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, California. He received his Medical Degree from Taipei Medical College in Taiwan and his Ph.D. from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His postdoctoral and pathology residency training also were completed at Temple University. After five years as Assistant Professor of Pathology (including basic research in Hematopathology) and Associate Director of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Chen completed a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of Maryland where he subsequently served two years as Assistant Professor of Pathology/Hematopathology, and spent one year at the National Institutes of Health for training in Hematopathology/Immunopathology. Dr. Chen has numerous publications on molecular and cellular pathology on the subject of cancer, genetics, and hematologic pathology. Dr. Chen is licensed in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and California.

Prior to co-founding Genospectra, Steve was an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland. His research has resulted in dozens of peer-reviewed publications and numerous patents and patent applications. Steve was the recipient of "Frontier Science and Measurement Award", the most prestigious British award in the field of measurement and instrumentation. His work was also awarded "Outstanding Invention of the Year" by the University of Maryland for innovations in fiber optic instrumentation. Steve received his doctorate in electronic engineering from King's College, London and held postdoctoral and faculty positions in the UK before joining the faculty of the University of Maryland.
