    Prior to holding public office, Shaun served as ambassador for the Harmony Movement, a national program to promote diversity and equality in Canada.     Growing up in Scarborough, Shaun attended public schools Brookmill Boulevard Junior Public School, Sir Ernest MacMillan Senior Public School, and Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute, where he graduated as "Best Boy" in 1999.He went on to receive his Honours Bachelor of Science in computer science and equity studies from the University of Toronto, where he is currently completing his Master of Education.

    Shaun has a received a myriad of community honours including Toronto's Commitment to Diverse-City Award, Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Citizenship Award, and an award citation in youth services from Scarborough Community Council.In 1999, Shaun was awarded the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers.
