Dr. Shanshan Chen

Dr. Shanshan Chen, a native of Shanghai, graduated from the First Medical University, Shanghai in 1956.She moved to Beijing that same year to train and work at the People's Hospital, Beijing Medical University (BMU), where she stayed until 1979.From 1979 to1982, she was a visiting scholar at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.She went back to Beijing in April of 1982 to rejoin the BMU, where she is currently a professor of Medicne and the vice-president of the Institute of Hematology.Dr. Chen also serves as the vice-president of the Chinese Medical Associationfor Hematology (Beijing Branch) and a standing committee member of the Chinese Society for Experimental Hematology.Her research interests are broad and includes leukemia cell biology at cellular and mollecular level and clinical application of flow cytometry in hematology.Dr. Chen talked on CML in China at the IOSG satellite symposium in Singapore in August 1996.
