    Robert Chen received his MA and medical degrees (MBBChir) from the University of Cambridge (Cambridge, U.K.) in 1989, and M.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) in 1992.

    He undertook internship at Guy's Hospital (University of London, London, U.K.), residency in Internal Medicine at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) and residency in Neurology at the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario, Canada) followed by three years of fellowship training in human motor control and movement disorders at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.In 1998 he joined the faculty of the University of Toronto.

    He is board certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and sub-specialize in movement disorders.His research interests include human motor physiology, brain plasticity and pathophysiology of movement disorders.He has published over 90 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and currently receives research support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research.

    Dr. Robert Chen, a Parkinson's researcher at the University of Toronto, said Dr. Stacy's findings are "quite plausible," but he wondered whether the gambling was related to the disease or the medication.

    Parkinson's is widely understood to be a disease of motor function, with major symptoms including trembling hands, an expressionless face and a shuffling gait.But the disease can cause cognitive impairment, too, Dr. Chen said, even hallucinations.
