   However, the highly fragmented TV market is showing some signs of consolidation, said Rita Chan, client service director, ACNielsen Media International.
   
   "Judging by the fact that top channel CCTV-1 took in only about 7% of total TV advertising, the overall market is still very much fragmented. However, the 71% revenue increase at OTV Channel 1, the second top channel, suggests some consolidation is taking place, possibly on a metropolitan basis," she said.
   
   Tonic and vitamins remained the leading product category, accounting for RMB8.3 billion with 221% year-on-year growth. However, Ms Chan noted the September quarter has shown the first sign of easing after long-standing growth.
   
   "After a steady, strong growth over the past 20 months, tonic and vitamins has come down from its June quarter peak with a 28% drop. Despite the easing, the amount of advertising is still a four-fold increase from the start of 1999," Ms Chan said.
