She explains why she chose to study here:

"I was impressed by Manchester Business School's reputation, and also by the organisation of the course units. I already knew I wanted to continue with a doctoral programme, and felt the MSc would help me be better prepared when I came to apply for a PhD and scholarship."

The MSc Business Economics runs over 12 months, with the first half of the programme focusing on the taught course units, and the second half devoted to the dissertation.

Na explains: "I found the econometrics, managerial microeconomics and research methods modules particularly useful, and they were very relevant to the work I do now. My dissertation looked at the forward premium puzzle in the area of exchange rate. The methods of identifying an academic problem, the best way to solve it and write up the study have certainly proved very useful to me in terms of time management and problem solving skills.

"Overall, I believe the MSc to be an excellent choice for those wanting to go into consultancy as a business economist, or like myself, lay solid foundations for a career in academia."

Na is now a PhD student at Leeds University as part of a Marie Curie fellowship: "I'm analysing modelling demand for railway transport with dynamic econometric approaches and I find I'm able to apply the tool-kit of skills I developed during the MSc programme to my current work."
