   Chi Mei spokeswoman Loreta Chen said the Taiwanese LCD maker has started mass producing LED backlights for 19-inch monitor panels from the fourth quarter and is already selling monitor panels using the technology. "As for TV panels, we already have the LED technology and product ready, but we still need to watch market needs to decide the timing of going for mass production," she said.

   CMO, which also provides LCD TV panels to Sony, will retain ownership of ID Tech's intellectual property and patents, as well as the company's sales channel, said Loreta Chen, a CMO spokeswoman in Tainan, Taiwan.
   
   CMO will continue to use the ID Tech factory to produce LCD panels for other customers for one year, Chen said. That production will be gradually transferred to another CMO factory in Tainan during this transition period, she said.
