   Kan Chen is Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan, where he founded the ITS research and education program in 1988. He started ITS consulting in 1990, chairing the Technical Review Team for the US ITS architecture program and co-editing the ITS Handbook for PIARC. Professor Chen was a member of the US Mobility 2000, a public/private sector coalition that led to the US Congressional legislation in ITS and the establishment of ITS America in the early 1990s. Dr. Chen has continued his ITS consulting activities in recent years through PBS&J and Locimotive Corporation.

   Kan Chen is Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan and is one of the two US coordinators for the Atlantic Project. He founded the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Education and Research Program at Michigan in 1988. As consultant to U.S. Department of Transportation, Dr. Chen chaired the Technical Review Team for U.S. National ITS Architecture, and supported the international activities of the ITS Joint Program Office, including co-editorship of the ITS Handbook 2000. Professor Chen is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

   Prof Kan Chen is Professor Emeritus at University of Michigan. As a pioneer in Intelligent Transportation Systems, he led the technical review of the US National ITS Architecture and co-edited PIARC's ITS Handbook. He attended middle schools in Shanghai and studied at Tsinghua University before getting his doctorate from MIT.
