James Chen left Chicago to work in Louisville for Humana.
...
Humana Inc. analyst James Chen, 32, worked in Chicago for four years before deciding that the Windy City "was getting much like New York for me," he said. He soon relocated to the relatively bucolic climes of Bloomington, Ind., where he earned a master's degree in business from Indiana University.
Chen moved to Louisville strictly to work for Humana but was pleased to discover that his job wasn't the only thing that suited him here. If Chicago was a little too big and Bloomington too small, Louisville was (mostly) just right.
"It depends on what you're looking for, of course," Chen said. -

James Chen grew up near Chicagoin Northwestern Indiana, attended the University of Chicago and went to business school in Indiana. He was recruited by Humana, Inc. - a fortune 500 company headquartered in Louisville- and made the move to Louisville.
James found it easy to settle into both his career, as an analyst practitioner for Humana's Business Services department, and his personal life. Being a transplant to the area, he knew he needed to break into a network and quickly became active with Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL). He found the group to be the perfect way to create a network of friends and meet other "transplants" like himself. Additionally, he was able to make a huge contribution by co-chairing a YPAL annual dinner and becoming active with other committees.
As for his general experience about his transition to Louisville, he really appreciates the quality of life and the balance between work and play Louisvilleoffers.
"It's such an easy city to live in. And it is so much more cosmopolitan than I expected it to be, with cultural centers, art galleries and city-run events such as the First Friday Trolley-Hop," reflects James. "I also love the environmental benefits of living in Louisville - the park system is great."
James probably wouldn't have chosen Louisville had it not been for his career opportunity with Humana, but once he got a taste of Louisville life, he says he's now ready to grow roots. -
