   A new doctor in Fowler will provide another option in family practice.

   Dr. Harry Chen has joined the Fowler medical practice of doctors Joan Rubinstein and Alex Sherriffs.
   ...
   Chen is board certified in family medicine and provides a wide range of services, including hospital care and pregnancy and delivery, as well as office surgery.
   
   Having recently completed a family medicine residency program at Louisiana State University Health Services Center, Chen chose Fowler for his practice because of his interest in rural medicine.
   
   Chen has also joined the medical staff at Selma Community Hospital. He said he is eager to provide services to the more than 20,000 individuals who live in Fowler, Selma and the surrounding area.
   
   "I would like to provide the full spectrum of care to my patients," Chen said. "My training has been very disciplined and well rounded. It has allowed me to embrace the whole spectrum, including obstetrics, psychiatry, surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics and more. It is this kind of care I look forward to delivering to the community."
   
   Chen grew up in the Los Angeles area and attended medical school at St. George's University in Grenada.
   
   He speaks some Mandarin, Chinese and Taiwanese.
   
   His office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and for those who find it hard to get away from work or other commitments, Chen sees patients on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
   
   "It's quite helpful, according to my patients here," Chen said.
   
   Chen joined the Fowler practice in July and said he enjoys working in the community. "I feel very comfortable. I'm quite happy here," Chen said.
   
   Chen's office is located at 119 S. Sixth St. in Fowler. He accepts most insurance and is currently accepting new patients. Appointments can be made by calling 834-1614.
