Feng Chen has 15 years experience in telecom and digital ASIC design with emphasis on DSP processing. He recently joined Rivlan where he manages all aspects of digital ASIC design from the top architecture and behavioral RTL modeling through logic synthesis down to design for testability and post-layout simulations with final timing.
Prior to Rivlan, in 2004 he joined DSP Products Division at LSI Logic as a Senior IC Design Engineer, where he was responsible for optimization and development of genera-purpose digital signal processors; in particular, their memory and cache subsystems. With other group members he heavily contributed to improvement of multiple DSP cores. He also became involved with optimization of design flow for system integration.
Prior to LSI Logic, from 2002 he worked for System Design Group at Shanghai Zhonghua Electronics in China as an ASIC Project Manager to provide architecture solutions for portable image-processing devices. He also led critical IP core development of AMBA compatible peripheral modules, JPEG hardware compression module, LCD display driver and data path control logic. He became involved with chip level and module level specifications from marketing requirements and evaluation of third-party IP and EDA tools as well as with optimization of in-house design flow. Under his management the Company successfully fabricated its first video processor and they became first ARM Approved Design Center in China.
Prior to Zhonghua Electronics, from 1996 he worked for US Division of Alcatel as an ASIC Design Engineer and a Member of Technical Staff being core designer of multiple ASIC projects for digital cross-connect system. Their functions include SONET overheads monitoring, insertion and processing. His primary duty covered the front end flow including micro architecture specification, RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, timing closure and post-layout gate verification as well as interface with system, software groups to define memory maps and control/status register specifications. He was also working with third-party back-end physical team to tape out prototype chips.
Prior to Alcatel, US from 1991 he worked for Alcatel Bell Telephone in Shanghai, China as a System Hardware Engineer responsible for on-site testing of digital telephone switching system, designing of interface circuit between switches to the transmission system and customer technical support.
Mr. Chen received his MSEE from Texas Technical University in 1996, his BSEE from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China in 1991 and his MBA from University of Texas at Dallas in 2002. -
