   In a morning note, Needham analyst Charlie Chen called the stock's after-hours sell-off -- which pushed shares down 15 percent Monday evening -- overdone.
   
   "Though this is clearly a negative headline, the after-hours sell-off could be an overreaction, and we remain believers in the management team and the company's long-term fundamentals," the analyst wrote, adding that in the six years he has followed the company, "management has consistently acted with conservatism and integrity."
   
   Baird's Steven M. Ashley upgraded the stock to "Outperform" from "Neutral," and said he would be a buyer of the stock on Tuesday's weakness.
   
   "While the near term will likely be volatile and noisy, the fact remains Cognos is a solid company and 2007 should be a strong year," he wrote in a note to clients.
