   Mr Billy Chen is currently Vice President Operations of the prestigious Raffles International Hotels and Resorts based in Singapore. The Raffles Group covers a global portfolio including properties in Europe , United States , South East Asia and Australia. As Vice President Operations , Mr Chen is responsible for the operational aspect of all hotels within the Group. Prior to joining Raffles International , Mr Chen worked for 13 years with the Shangri-la Hotels and Resorts. He started his career with the Group in Singapore and subsequently worked in Bangkok. He was General Manager of their flagship hotels in Penang and Beijing.

   Mr Chen has lived and worked in many parts of Asia and the United States. In addition to English , Mandarin and Thai , he also speaks Cantonese and many other dialects fluently. Mr Chen has a degree in Hospitality Management from the Brigham Young University in Hawaii. He is married with a teenage daughter. He will take up his new appointment on 2 April 2001.

   Raffles International is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Billy Chen as Vice President, Operations. His responsibilities encompass maintaining the operating performance of all Raffles International hotels and resorts in areas such as service standards, quality management and cost control; providing pre-opening support for hotels, monitoring the industry and technology developments; and management of corporate staff in their respective areas.
   
   Mr Chen has been in the hospitality industry for 15 years. Prior to joining Raffles International, he had held key positions with the Shangri-la Hotel Group in China, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. In his capacity as General Manager of Shangri-la hotels in Beijing, China and Penang, Malaysia, he played an instrumental role in ensuring that the hotels enjoyed good performance in occupancy and profitability.
   
   Mr Chen holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Brigham Young University - Hawaii Campus Laie, Hawaii, USA. A Singapore citizen, he is married with a 14-year old child.
   
   Raffles International Limited is the hotel management arm of Raffles Holdings. Raffles Holdings is the hotel arm of DBS Land Ltd, a leading property group listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.
