Dr Aaron Chen of Aeroflex UTMC :chip technology for aerospaceDr Aaron Chen is a senior design engineer at Aeroflex UTMC.He specializes in semiconductor technology for aerospace.
Aeroflex UTMC is a leading supplier of ICs to aerospace as well as commercial and industrial customers.
Chen finished his BSEE in 1984 and his MSEE in 1987 at Tianjin University. Then he went to Guilin Institute of Electronic Technology to do further research in digital signal imaging.
His wife was a student at the University of Colorado , and in 1991 Chen joined her.He worked for Hewlett-Packard as a technical contractor doing software logic analysis.
In 1994 he started his PhD at the University of Colorado. At the same time he worked on ICs for Symbios Logic. He joined Aeroflex UTMC in 1996 as a CAD engineer. He finished his PhD in EE and computer engineering in 2000 , doing his dissertation on VLSI circuit delay models.
Aeroflex UTMC supplies both ASICs and standard products.Chen began on ASICs , but shifted to standard products in 1998 because The company needed a circuit design engineer there..Since then fifteen new products have been launched , and Chen is currently working on a Low Voltage Deferential Signaling product for imaging inside satellites , which uses digital high-speed signaling to save power.
I find aerospace work very challenging , Chen says.We don't want anything to happen to an astronaut..
