   George Chelvanayagam, P.Eng., CEng., F.I.E.E., M.I.E.S., has accepted an invitation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to become their International Professional Registration Advisor in Ontario.
   
   George's role is to assist applicants in the process of becoming professionals. He arranges professional review interviews for members who apply for registration as a Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician with the Engineering Council (UK), ensuring that the interviews are conducted professionally and in accordance with the IET's assessment procedures, which are audited by the EC (UK). George's term extends from July 2006 to July 2009.
   
   George is the Manager of Electrical Infrastructure at Morrison Hershfield with over 30 years of experience on a wide range of interesting and challenging projects. He has a proven track record of volunteering his time and efforts to further the engineering profession.
   
   George, an active member of the Toronto Branch of IET, held the executive position of Secretary, Vice Chairman and Chairman. He was a Branch Representative with the IEE Council and IEE Membership Interviewer. He is actively involved in the local Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) as a member of the Experience Requirements Committee.

   George Chelvanayagam, P.Eng., C. Eng., FIEE has been elected to London England's Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) as Canadian Branch Council Representative. He has been an Executive Committee member since 1990 and is currently Chairman of IEE's Toronto Ontario branch.

   George was granted fellowship by the IEE, an honour awarded to members who have demonstrated significant individual responsibility, sustained achievement and exceptional professionalism throughout their careers.
   
   In addition to his role with the IEE, George also serves on the Professional Engineers of Ontario's Experience Requirements Committee and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America's Roadway Lighting Committee.
