Doctors Hospital announced today that Jerry Chellini, D.O., was selected to fill one of only three positions available annually in a nationally coveted Nephrology Fellowship program offered by The Ohio State University's School of Medicine.
Dr. Chellini, a Cincinnati native who now resides in Lewis Center, will complete his Residency Program at Doctors Hospital/OhioHealth in July 2006, then will begin his two-year Nephrology Fellowship immediately following that.
Dr. Chellini completed his medical internship at Doctors Hospital/OhioHealth, received his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and received his undergraduate degree in Pre-Medicine and Economics from the University of Cincinnati.
Currently a Group Facilitator for OUCOM's 3rd year medical students, Dr. Chellini guides medical students through clinical cases and assists them with developing clinical decision-making skills. He has received numerous professional awards and honors, including the OUCOM Dean's Award, the OUCOM Biomedical Sciences Award, and the OUCOM Outstanding Student Award. During his undergraduate work, he was also a member of the Economic Honor Society.
Dr. Chellini is a member of the American College of Physicians - American Society of Internal Medicine, the American College of Osteopathic Internists, and the American Osteopathic Association. He is currently the resident coordinator for a clinical trial studying the role of osteopathic manipulative therapy in treating pneumonia, and he is one of the coauthors of a medical treatment paper published in the Journal of Invasive Cardiology.
