   Junior Chefs was created by the Junior League of Calgary in 2001 in response to the startling statistics of child hunger in Calgary. In the past few years, a second critical children's issue has arisen that also relates to nutrition: child obesity. With Junior Chefs, the JLC hopes to inspire all children to make healthy food choices throughout their lives.
   
   As of January 2007, the Junior League of Calgary and Junior Chefs began partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary (BGCC). Junior Chefs will be delivered exclusively to members of the BGCC, impacting over 200 children this year.
