   Bruce Cheever is Sr. Vice President of Flight Operations at FedEx and is serving his first term on the board.
   
   Chelius Howard Carter was named for his mother's oldest brother: 2nd Lt. Chelius Clifton Howard, who as an 8th Air Force fighter pilot with the 364th Fighter Group; 385th Fighter Squadron, was Killed in Action on 21 March 1945, while strafing Achmer Airdrome in north Germany. Graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, 1973; University of Tennessee School of Architecture in 1990. Since 1985, Chelius was asked to serve his namesake's 364th Fighter Group Association as their official Historian. He served on the "Memphis Belle" Memorial Association's Board of Directors from 1986-1998; was President from 1990-1992. In his own well put words, "To honor this great gift given to us is the least we can do for those men & women who thought more of the lives of those to come later, than they valued their own.

   In addition, they were given a model of a FedEx aircraft and a personal letter from Bruce Cheever, FedEx's Vice President of Flight Operations.

   Captain Cheever was formerly a Production Test Pilot for McDonnell Douglas, and served his country as a fighter pilot in the Marines, retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Lt. Colonel in 1990.
