Leonie Cheetham

Leonie grew up in Bowral, NSW and came to Canberra to attend university.She graduated from the Australian National University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts.She studied Psychology, Sociology and Linguistics.Leonie is currently enrolled in a Graduate Bachelor of Teaching at the University of New England.She is studying to become a Primary School Teacher.

Her experience in teaching comes from working at the Migrant Resource Centre and the Adult Migrant Education Program as an English tutor.She helps migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds learn English and adjust to life in a new country and culture.

After a short stint working as a graphic designer at Green Words & Images, Leonie has recently taken up a position as the Coordinator for the Program for After School Studies (PASS) at the Migrant Resource Centre in Canberra which she is finding a very rewarding experience.

Leonie enjoys arts & crafts and has designed a stage set for a university musical production.She has a love of nature and the environment from which her interest in astronomy stems.She sees astronomy as a fascinating and beautiful science, through which we can gain a renewed outlook on life and a fresh appreciation for the value of the world around us.
