Maddi Cheers, a graduate of Towson University with a BS in Theater Arts, is a member of the Theater Alumni Board and since 1990 has been president of Funfit, specializing in dance, music and multicultural games for children and families. Maddi has also provided training sessions in multicultural games and activities for the Maryland Recreation and Parks Association, Howard County Recreation, Anne Arundel Recreation and the Goldsmith Early Childhood Center. They have created Journeys Into American Indian Territory to give students hands-on opportunities to understand the culture of Native Americans. YAM welcomes them back for a fourth year!
Tipi Traditions: Lifeways of the Plains Indian People This unique in-school field trip enables students to access the Native American experience through hands-on participation in the lifeways of the Plains Indians Peoples, both past and present. The Plains Indian traditions of respect for self, elders, community and the environment are the themes that run through the assembly programs and all-day residencies.
