   Shiu-Ming Cheer, Managing Attorney, Los Angeles Detention Project Ms. Cheer received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and her J.D. from UCLA School of Law's Program in Public Interest Policy and Law. She was a Soros Justice Fellow with CLINIC in Los Angeles and then worked for two years as the Children's Attorney at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project in Florence, Arizona, where she provided comprehensive services to detained immigrant children. She is currently the Managing Attorney of CLINIC's Los Angeles Detention Project. She has interned and worked with organizations such as the Southern Center for Human Rights, Service Employees International Union, Asian Immigrant Women Advocates, and Chinese for Affirmative Action. Ms. Cheer is a member of the California Bar and the National Lawyers Guild.
