Darryl Cheeks Darryl Cheeks currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Chicagoland Barbecue, Inc. while also carrying out his daily functions as the CEO & President. Darryl began his career, upon graduating from the University of Illinois, Champaign with a B.S Degree in Accountancy, with Arthur Andersen & Co. where he worked in their Enterprise/Commercial group. During his time at Andersen, Darryl became a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A). After leaving Andersen, Darryl took a position with Abbott Laboratories as a financial and operational consultant for their Corporate Group. In 1995, Darryl accepted a position as CFO for Hoyt/AXS Solutions. During his tenure there, he spearheaded a corporate reengineering project, a merger, an acquisition, and was a critical member in their subsequent IPO. After leaving AXS, Darryl started consulting for himself and worked with numerous companies as their "acting CFO" on turnaround strategies, mergers and acquisitions. In his last position, before taking the full time helm at CBI, Darryl worked with Oracle as a Practice Director in their Business Solution Architect group and later became the Director of General Business in Chicago for Oracle. Darryl also has a parallel career as he has served as the Assistant Minister for the Monroe Street Church of Christ since 1990, and in 1994, he became the Director of Soul Food Prison Ministries that serves the incarcerated population at Cook County Jail in Illinois and over 70% of the prisons in the state of Illinois. Darryl has current membership in the Illinois CPA Society and National Association of Black Accountants. He also sits on the Board of Directors for "A Safe Place," an organization that focuses on the safety and rehabilitation of domestically abused women. In the past, Darryl served on boards ranging from professional training organizations (Northern Illinois Business Association) to childcare (Reba Place Day Nursery). Darryl still speaks at events where he will address high school students on the importance of education, business careers, and preparing for the work world. -
