He enjoyed working on player piano actions and producing his rubber stamps. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Post) Cheek of South Portland; a son, Wallace Cheek, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Ruth Decker and husband, Frank of Dexter, and Beth Landergren and husband, David of Limington; two sisters, Alma MacLeod of Rockport, Mass., and Virginia Noble and husband, Jerry of Benita Springs, Fla.; three granddaughters; and a great-grandson.     PORTLAND - Wallace Leroy Cheek Sr., 80, New York Avenue, South Portland died Sunday, March 3, at the Barron Center.

    He was born at the Bronx, New York City, N.Y., June 18, 1921. He was educated in New York City and graduated from Gloucester High School, Gloucester, Mass.

    Following his graduation Mr. Cheek worked as a Linotype operator for the Christian Science Monitor and Church World.

    For many years he owned and operated his own business which manufactured rubber stamps, toward the later part of his career he performed custodial services for various businesses in the Portland and South Portland areas.

    He enjoyed working on player piano actions and producing his rubber stamps. He was a member of the Shiloh Chapel in Durham.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Post) Cheek of South Portland; one son, Wallace Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Ruth Decker and husband Frank of Dexter, Beth Landergren and husband David of Limington; two sisters, Alma MacLeod of Rockport, Mass., Virginia Noble and husband Jerry of Benita Springs, Fla.; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
