ALBANY - Virginia Mary Gennusa "Bidoe" Cheek, 55, of Albany passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Phoebe passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at First Baptist Church Acree with the Rev. Mark Sickling officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Cheek was born in Orleans Parish, New Orleans, LA, on April 9, 1948, to Valentina Fofanova Gennusa and the late Master Sergeant Joseph Jerry Gennusa Sr.

Mrs. Cheek was a member of First Baptist Church Acree, where she was a former church secretary, taught Sunday School, former member of the church choir and also started the prison ministry. She was a member of the TOPS #245. Mrs. Cheek was a former employee at Merck of Suitt Construction, KSI Construction and Flour Daniels (P&G) Construction, she was former secretary for the Byne Booster Club. Mrs. Cheek enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, photography, traveling and helping others. Mrs. Cheek was educated in Portsmouth, VA, and graduated from Dougherty High School in 1966 and from Albany Junior College in 1968.
Mrs. Cheek was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Gennusa.
