Brent started his railway career in Red Deer, Alberta in July 1978 as a Track Maintainer for Canadian National Railways. During the next 18 years he worked as a Leading Track Maintainer, Track Foreman and Assistant Track Supervisor at various locations in Alberta . During his time with CN, he also served as a Track Maintenance Training Instructor and a Work Force Coordinator in the Rail Traffic Control office.
In October 1996 he left CN for an exciting new challenge with RaiLink Ltd. as Manager of Network Expansion. He is currently employed with RailAmerica Inc. in the position of Director - Engineering Standards & Training.
Brent is a member of the American Railway Engineering & Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA) and is Vice Chair on AREMA Committee 24 Education & Training.
His interests and hobbies include photography, history, coaching basketball, curling, hockey, and woodworking. A passionate Canadian and a Saskatchewan Roughrider Fan, he is a Director of the Canadian Northern Society and a member of the Selection Committee of the Canadian Railway Hall of Fame. -
