BALTIMORE, MD -- Washington College's all-time leading goal-scorer in men's lacrosse, John Cheek, will become the sixth WC alum to be enshrined in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Cheek, who graduated from Washington in 1977, will be inducted in a ceremony at The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley, MD, on November 22nd.
Cheek, one of the most prolific scorers in collegiate lacrosse history, finished his career with the Shoremen with a school-record 212 goals. In 1976, he established Washington's record for goals in a season by firing in 69 in 15 games. Cheek earned All-America honors three times, including first team honors in 1976 and 1977. He was named the Division II/III Player of the Year in 1976 and the Division II/III Attackman of the Year in 1976 and 1977. Cheek was a member of the U.S. team in 1978.
Cheek was inducted into the Washington College Hall of Fame in 1993 and into the US Lacrosse Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame in 1999.
