On Friday, April 11th, Oneida Councilman Paul Ninham will begin the conference with an opening welcome, followed by keynote speaker, John Cheek at approximately 9 a.m. John Cheek is a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma and is currently Executive Director of the National Indian Education Association.
Mr. Cheek has a long standing history of involvement in Indian Education. He has worked with all of the Tribes on a national basis but spent time specifically with the Oklahoma Public School Indian Education program and with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, working in adult education. He was instrumental in getting the National Indian Education Act adopted, working on virtually every sub-part component of this act. -
