   Jimmy Alexander Cheek II, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of the Barber- Scotia College Choir is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University where he recieved the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music (General); Cum Laude. His education was furthered at the University Of North Carolina At Greensboro where he attained the Master of Music, MM. in Music Education. Mr. Cheek is presently pursuing the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Music Education and Certification in Curriculum & Supervision at the University Of North Carolina At Greensboro.
   
   Some of the many Awards/Prestigious Assignments and Presentation recieved by Mr. Cheek includes: 1999 Guilford County School's Teaching Excellence Award: Member, Cabarrus County Arts Council Board of Directors Numerous "Superior"; ratings yearly at the North Carolina Music Educator's Large and Small Ensemble Festival/Contest Served as 1996 and 1997 Talent Hunt Chair for Tau Omega Chapter Member, Music Educator's National Conference and North Carolina Music Association Member, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Incorporated

   Mr. Cheek has a genuine love for his students and has enjoyed the challenge of developing the choral program at Barber-Scotia College. His future plans for the Barber-Scotia College Choir includes recording of a CD and the attainment of corporate sponsorship/partnership for the choir to travel the United States serving as ambassadors of Barber-Scotia College, Cabarrus County and North Carolina.
