   Ms. Checkman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in English from University of San Diego. She has a Multiple-Subject Credential as well as a Supplementary Credential in English. Mrs. Checkman had been teaching for eleven years prior to joining the Marywood faculty in the 2004-2005 school year.
   
   Ms. Checkman keeps busy with two miniature dachshunds, her four-year-old son Oliver, and helping out her husband at the playhouse where he is a director. When she's not at school, she is usually outdoors hiking or at the beach enjoying the ocean.
