    Lee Cheatham was appointed Executive Director of the Washington Technology Center - Washington's technology-based economic development organization - in 1998. During Dr. Cheatham's tenure, WTC has expanded its interactions with companies and communities across the state. In addition, he led a group of companies and government organizations to found the Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative, a partnership committed to accelerating the Pacific Northwest's Energy Technology industry.

    Prior to this position, Dr. Cheatham founded the Strategic Projects Group, a startup software and information services company serving the real estate market. Before founding SPG, Dr. Cheatham was Vice President at Ameritech Library Services with responsibility for worldwide product development and engineering. Ameritech Library Services is the market leader in library automation software with annual sales exceeding $100M. From 1978 to 1995, Dr. Cheatham held several senior management positions at Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Primary responsibilities focused on leadership of the Computer Sciences Department, a 170-member applied research group.

    In each of his assignments, Dr. Cheatham has focused on the impact of innovation and collaboration. He has a proven track record in areas ranging from software start-up to managing engineering activities in six countries. Dr. Cheatham's global experience has focused on building market-driven interactions under a variety of commercial, government and university sponsorships.

    Dr. Cheatham received a BS degree from Oregon State University and MS degree from Washington State University, both in electrical engineering (1978, 1981). He also received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering with specialization in optical computing from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1984.

    Dr. Cheatham serves on the Boards of Directors or Advisors of several organizations including University of Washington Bothell, Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute and VocalArts Northwest.
