C. Stephen Cheasley specializes in the areas of debt financing and real estate law.While his professional activities are extensive and very diverse, he has also displayed a high level of commitment to the community; his principal focus being the development of Montréal and the Greater Montréal region.He has been an active member of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal/Chambre de commerce du Montréal Métropolitain and has served as its President and Chairman.He also co-chaired the Comité de promotion économique de Montréal, the working group on the future of the Dorval and Mirabel airports, as well as advisory committees on the McGill College Avenue redevelopment project in downtown Montréal and on the development of the Old Port of Montréal.
In 1992, Mr. Cheasley was a member of the task force of Greater Montréal and regions, whose mandate was to propose long-term strategies and priorities for the development of the metropolitan region.The conclusions of this task force are known as the "Pichette Report".Mr. Cheasley was recently appointed member of the advisory committee on Montréal's policy regarding public consultation in urban matters, which led to the "Tremblay Report" made public on November 28, 2000.He is presently Vice-President of the Quartier International de Montréal which is developing the Cité Internationale project in the heart of Montréal.
