Dave Champagne, manager of wind energy for the Minster Machine Company, said implementing a renewable portfolio standard would create "a favorable business environment" for manufacturers of green energy components.

"A renewable energy standard would be good for our company because this policy would create demand for wind energy products," he said.

David Champagne Business Manager of Minster Wind in Minster, Ohio, David is responsible for business development engaging over 20 international wind turbine companies with the goal of finding wind turbine technology that would allow Minster to be a turbine OEM through his in-depth knowledge of the end user market, governmental policies and incentives, turbine technologies and the supply chain. Through the industry contacts that were made, Minster is supplying casting and machining for a multi-MW turbine OEM. He is an active participant in the Ohio Wind Working Group. David was On Site Assembly Manager at Minister earlier and has worked in manufacturing at Weber Screwdriving Systems, Heidelberg Web Systems and Stanley Electric. David has an MS, Electrical Engineering from University of Dayton and BS, Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University.

The 112-year-old operation, founded as a blacksmith shop in 1896, is looking at making castings and components for companies that make wind turbines, said David Champagne, business manager for the company's wind division. The company hopes to make a decision by the end of this year.

"It's very exciting to see the potential market for the next 15 to 20 years," he said.
