Adam Chadwick, GIS manager for Kamloops, said GIS allows users to create interactive searches, analyze the spatial information, edit data, maps, and then present the results. His job includes overseeing the use of this mapping technology for city programs like urban planning and environmental impact assessment.
Chadwick has sold many aerial images he has taken of Kamloops to Google for use on its regular map website. He said viewers need to know how Google gets its information.
"If you look at Microsoft they are using standardized data, if you look at Google you don't know what you are getting, anyone could have supplied the information.Virtual earth by Microsoft seems to be a little more solid based in their methods of gathering information," said Chadwick.
