A team of seventy-seven NBT staff led by Mr & Mrs Ninan Chacko joined some 2000 civil servants and private sector employees at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan, on Sunday May 10th 2009 to take part in a walkathon to observe Labour Day.

The walkathon organised by the Labour Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, had a male and a female category.
The men, headed by Pehin Dato Hj Adanan, walked a distance of 4km while the women walked 3.5km, led by the minister's wife, Datin Paduka Hjh Salmah Hj Hanafiah.
According to Mr Ninan Chacko, our Managing Director, NBT is pleased to support and participate in the walkathon which was held to promote awareness of healthy living and to build closer relations between employees in the public and private sectors as well as their families.
"NBT strongly supports the theme for Labour Day 2009: 'Occupational Safety and Health at the Workplace'.
We have always emphasised these issues at all our branch premises and service centres," he said.
We believe that investing in the health and wellbeing of our employees actually makes very good business sense.
In fact, I would go as far as to say that our happy and healthy staff are instrumental to maintaining NBT's enviable position as the auto market leader in Brunei Darussalam for more than a quarter of a century," he further explained.
"Family is always important…I am really pleased to see so many of our staff's families participating today," he remarked.

Mr Ninan Chacko: "What's more, NBT went one step further than just looking after our staff very well.
We went ahead to obtain ISO 14001: Environmental Management System certification in 2008, and in the process we created Brunei's cleanest and least polluting service centres, as well as probably the safest workplaces of their kind in the country."
