According to a court affidavit by Seabrook Police Officer Michael Cawley, on Thursday, Nov. 7, Cawley and officers from Kingston and the state Drug Enforcement Agency met with an undercover female police officer.

The undercover officer made a call to a Seabrook man and met with him at the Richdale store on Route 1.

The man is expected to be an informant in future drug investigations, and so is not being named.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Cawley again assisted the undercover officer and other officers, according to the court document, and again the Seabrook man called Wheaton to order an ounce of cocaine.

SEABROOK - The Seabrook Police Department will throw a welcome-home party for Police Officer Michael Cawley, 42, who just returned from Fallujah, where he spent a year embedded with the Iraqi Army.

The public welcome is scheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the police station on Centennial Street.

Coca-Cola donated a banner, which will be hung outside.A group photo will be taken of Cawley gathered with co-workers, family, friends and townspeople under the banner.

Cawley, a sergeant first class with the Army Reserves 98th Division, was deployed Sept. 8, 2004.

Unlike other coalition forces, Cawley and the 10 Americans in his unit lived directly with Iraqi soldiers in a bombed-out factory building in the city of Fallujah.

Cawley's job was intelligence gathering, a detail he wasn't at liberty to tell while deployed.

He found informants, bought information when necessary to discover weapons caches, and investigated car bombs.

"We were very successful at it," he said this past Monday.

He was wounded in heavy fighting earlier this year, hit in his right trigger finger.

The bullet missed his knuckles and nerves, and he is fine now, he said.

Cawley came home to Seabrook Sunday, Sept. 18, where he has spent 16 years as a Seabrook police officer.

Cawley will be officially discharged from active duty on Oct. 4, Currier said.
